A male bellydancer is taking centre stage in Manchester alongside local dancers and musicians.
Internationally acclaimed bellydancer Ozgen, along with Salford-based Taste of Cairo entertainment agency, is bringing a special production to the city.
More than just a dance show, the cast are made up of local dancers, artistes and singers. Over a five week period they have learnt choreographies and will ultimately perform with Ozgen on the 30th June at Z-Arts Manchester.
Taste of Cairo owner, Tracey Gibbs, said: "We're so excited to have Ozgen here in Manchester and bringing the community together.
"It's a real coup for the city and I'm sure that audiences from across the country will enjoy celebrating this magic performance with us."
The stage show story evolves of love lost , told through the traditional music and dances of Ozgen’s Turkish heritage. Joining the production will be some members of the Manchester Turkish Music Choir , also a sufi performance and poetry . Guest artistes make their appearance’s throughout the show including Egyptian Tanora and Chinese Classical dance.
Direct from creating this great piece in Japan, some of the original Japanese cast loved it so much they are also traveling to Manchester to take part in the show. A truly cultural mix for a great production.
Ozgen is passionate about bellydance’s ability to empower women and is excited to perform for the first time in Manchester.

Biography for Ozgen Turkish Male Bellydancer
Ozgen has performed, taught, choreographed & directed for the last 18 years. His reputation as a male belly dancer & teacher has taken him across the world. In Istanbul, he joined the cast of Night of the Sultans combining contemporary dance, ballet and oriental dance. Ozgen taught for several years at the Tolgahan Dance School in Istanbul, and is now based in London, teaching and ...performing Turkish Oriental & Romani (Gypsy) dance internationally.
